All Symposium Sessions occur in the University Center, 2101 10th Avenue, and Campus Commons, 1051 22nd Avenue.

On-campus lodging is in Lawrenson Hall, 2300 12th Avenue Court. This residence hall is within walking distance of the Symposium.

  • PLEASE START YOUR PURCHASES BY SETTING UP YOUR ACCOUNT. Select the MY ACCOUNT in the blue field above and select "Create a New Account" button. Complete the required fields.
    • INTERNATIONAL GUESTS: Because the STATE field is required for U.S. customers, you must fill the STATE field. Please open the pull-down menu in the STATE field and go to the top to select the blank field. Enter NA.
    • Please use the pull-down menu in the COUNTRY field to enter your country . Enter postal code and phone number in appropriate fields as they are also required.
  • Please read through the Symposium website to plan your choices for the mid-symposium excursion, lodging and meals, and pre- and post- excursions. You will have 20 minutes to complete your shopping cart. 
  • Your Symposium Registration and a choice of Mid-Symposium Excursions are required.
  • For each portion of your options, please use the CONTINUE SHOPPING at the bottom of the Shopping Cart to return to the website's home page. Choose the IAVS landing page, scroll down to your next choice. When you have finished adding to your shopping cart, choose CONTINUE.
  • A new page with with questions will open. For the Symposium registration, please identify the Symposium attendee by full name, institution affiliation, and email address. For your Mid-Excursion choice, you will be asked for attendees' full name and to rank two more choices. When you have completed the required fields, choose CONTINUE.
  • Choose the delivery method. Although only one may be offered, you will need to select it.
  • Payment will be required in American dollars using Visa, MasterCard or Discover credit cards. With your payment, you will receive an email with a paid invoice listing your registration and your choices.
Should you require an unpaid invoice to submit to your institution for payment, PLEASE EMAIL YOUR CHOICES TO: [email protected]. We will be happy to set up your account with your registration and option choices. We can accept payment through wire transfer or by credit card in UNC's E-Store. Instructions for either form of payment will be provided.


SYMPOSIUM REGISTRATION

 

You will select your IAVS status and add to your shopping cart. Continue shopping and make your selections for your Mid-Symposium Excursion (FRIDAY 01 AUG) which is included in your registration. You will be asked to select one excursion from a choice of 8.

Your registration includes lunches WED-SUN (5), Welcome Reception TUESDAY evening and symposium dinner SATURDAY night. You will have the option of buying meals in the dining hall close to Campus Commons and University Center. You do not have to stay on campus to eat in the dining hall.
Registration for Accompanying Person includes the Welcome Reception and Symposium Dinner, lunches and the Mid-Symposium Excursion. For Accompanying Persons who only want to go on the Mid-Symposium Excursion, there is a price type ($100) for that excursion alone. It does not include social events or lunches (except for boxed lunch for the excursion).

MEALS ON CAMPUS

Meal Choices - Breakfast ($11.20) Wednesday through Sunday (5), and Dinner ($14.08) Wednesday through Friday (3) are available to purchase individually. You do not have to stay in campus lodging to eat meals on campus. As part of your registration, Tuesday evening reception and Saturday dinner are included. All lunches are also included. Friday excursion box lunches will be provided.

PARKING PASS

Parking Pass includes overnight parking in the lot adjacent to Lawrenson Hall or daytime lots near Symposium. Parking is free on weekends. A pass will be required MON 28 JUL through FRI 01 AUG.

ON-CAMPUS LODGING OPTION

Choose to stay in on-campus Lawrenson Hall within walking distance to the Symposium venues. Suites have bedrooms off a common room and a shared bathroom. Choose a single bedroom by yourself or a bed in a shared double room in the suite. Linens include wool blanket, pillow, pillowcase, top and bottom sheets, towel, hand towel, and washcloth. Beds are twin sized.

PRE- AND POST-SYMPOSIUM EXCURSION OPTIONS

Pre-Symposium Excursion – The Pre-Symposium Excursion (THU 24 JUL-TUE 29 JUL 2025) will focus on various vegetation communities in northern Colorado, including short grass steppe, sagebrush, several forest biomes and alpine. Price includes one breakfast, four dinners and all lunches. Other meals will be on your own. Rates: $1350.00 for a single room and $950.00 for a double room (one bed in a shared hotel room). Arrive in Greeley Colorado on 23 July; lodging that night is included in your excursion registration. You will return to Greeley 29 July for the social that evening to start the Symposium.

Post-Symposium Excursion – The post-symposium excursion (MON 4 AUG-SAT 9 AUG 2025) will focus on drylands of the southwest, mainly in New Mexico, and include grasslands as well as the iconic Chihuahuan desert. The excursion starts in Greeley and ends in Albuquerque, NM on Friday 8 August with an option to return to Denver (Greeley) on Saturday 9 August. All lunches are provided. Breakfasts and dinners will be on your own. Rates: $1500.00 for a single room and $1100.00 for a double room (one bed in a shared room).

CARBON OFFSET OPTION

The IAVS Governing Board wants to offset carbon costs of our annual meeting, and you can help. A typical meeting with transportation and hotel costs runs between 30 and 35 metric tons of CO2, and at $3/MT, that comes to about $100.  You can go with that estimate or estimate for yourself. Funds will be donated to a regional or local nature conservation group or environmental organization which can implement nature-based projects in support of carbon sequestration (e.g. habitat restoration, habitat protection).

VIRTUAL EVENT OPTION

Online MON 28 JUL from 8am to 4pm MST. Approximately 10 talks, broken up into 2 sessions, this online event will provide an exchange of ideas and networking among vegetation scientists who might not be able to attend the 2025 IAVS in Colorado in person. In addition, the online event is in line with the society’s goal to lower the symposium’s carbon emissions.
