Audrey Couloumbis’ 1999 Newbery Award-winning charming and heartwarming book comes to life on stage in Getting Near to Baby . The story follows Willa Jo and Little Sister in1967 as the girls are sent to their rule-following aunt Patty’s house after their baby sister dies. The girls meet adventurous neighbors and fail at taking charm lessons. The family struggles together to love and support one another’s grief through humor, vulnerability, and compassion.
