UNC Bands celebrates the musical and artistic achievements of African-American composers in this concert of varied works. You will hear Octet for Brass and Piano, a unique chamber work by Florence Price, pioneering black female composer, and Carlos Simon’s riveting Amen, originally scored for symphony orchestra but transcribed here for wind ensemble. Come experience melodies and harmonies that take you on a journey into black culture throughout American history.
